Volunteer for Financial Education

We have a successful track record of delivering a series of free events in schools aimed at raising financial awareness. The sessions last between 60-90 minutes and are targeted at 20-35 Year 11-13 students.

Our financial education sessions focus on themes relevant to students at their current age and align with the Martin Lewis Your Money Matters book, the first financial education textbook.

Themes will include:

  • Budgeting and prioritisation
  • Staying safe from scams
  • Moving on from school
  • Understanding risk

We also offer our popular and interactive Discover Fortunes event:

  • Short introduction of the volunteer and their career path.
  • A board game competition played in teams of 5-6 students and based around 5 client portfolios where students assess a client’s risk profile before agreeing on an individual’s financial planning options that are grouped into 4 categories (protection, pensions, savings and investments).
  • Students work collaboratively in teams to plan the clients’ wealth portfolios.
  • Through the course of the session, we are able to expand on what protection, pensions, savings and investments are.
  • Creates framework for future follow-up session on financial education.

While Discover Fortunes is more career focused, it does allow us to start a financial conversation with students in a fun and interactive way..
