Brokers talk to insurance companies on behalf of their customers (who could be individuals or businesses), advising on the most suitable product for their needs, getting the best deal for them and arranging their cover.
A degree in any subject is acceptable for entry into the profession, with accounting finance, economics, management, mathematics or business giving you an advantage. Some organisations also accept A levels or equivalent qualifications for entry level positions.
Communication skills are particularly important. Getting the job done depends on your ability to liaise and negotiate with a wide range of people, assimilating and communicating information that is often complex and technical.
